From Darkness to Light: The paintings of Laura Murlender A "Disappeared" who survived!

Published in 2007

A native of Buenos Aires, Murlender was abducted at the age of nineteen by government forces and placed in solitary confinement. Released "in error" after 11 day, she fled to Tel Aviv and began to rebuild her identity. Accepted at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, Murlender began a search for structure and a sense of unity through her art. Her quest for freedom is reflected in her Black, Red, White and Blue series. Preface essay by Museum Director, Sylvia A. Herskowitz and Curator, Reba Wulkan with brief history and chronology.
