Silk Stones – Works by Rochelle Rubinstein

March 11, 2012 - July 15, 2012
Selz Foundation Gallery

Toronto-based artist Rochelle Rubinstein blends biblical narratives, cultural legends, liturgy and poetry with her own personal stories to create abstracted yet recognizable images of family, community and history. This monographic exhibition features sculpture, works on paper, wood and fabric, and a series of richly decorated handmade books. Using repetition and overlapping, carving and piercing, and a variety of sewing and printing techniques within single works, Rubinstein invites viewers to experience intimately the artist's process and perspective.
