Gallery Talk: Dara Horn, Jerusalem, Imagination and Historical Consciousness

Wednesday, June 7, 2017, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Rosenberg & Winnick Galleries

What is Jerusalem's role in maintaining Jewish historical consciousness? What does the city mean for modern Jewish writers? In this gallery talk/walk through YUM’s exhibition City of Gold, Bronze and Light: Jerusalem between Word and Image, novelist Dara Horn explores Jerusalem's role in the work and imagination of modern Jewish writers. Discussing both the work of Jewish writers and her own forthcoming novel (set in part in Jerusalem in the Roman period), Horn will explore these writers' imaginative reliance on the city's historical past, and Jerusalem's role in perpetuating that creativity in the future.
